The approach which I follow

Process

To create impressive User Experience, I actively engage my intuitive, analytical, critical and creative traits.

It's not about right-brain, left-brain thinking. It's about taking a holistic approach to the projects I work on — grounding myself in understanding, gaining perspective, embracing the collaborative process, finding ways to test multiple ideas and iterating — to arrive at the most effective and practicable solutions.

While no two projects are alike, the way I think about and approach user experience design is rather straightforward, and can be summarized below, with examples of what I produce.

    Research to understand

I rely on my business and consumer marketing acumen to take in market research, define business goals, and learn about the brand, the product and the stakeholders.

  • Content Audits
  • Competetive Analyses
  • Heuristic Evaluations
  • Stakeholder Interviews

    Listen to learn

I structure interviews to elicit storytelling, and I document users' thoughts, feelings and actions when conducting contextual inquiries and user testing.

  • Questionnaires
  • User Interviews
  • Usability Evaluation
  • User Stories

    Synthesize to define

Pulling together what I've learnt, I model representative experiences, tasks and mindsets to articulate the users' goals, and define and frame the problem.

  • Personas
  • Empathy Maps
  • Mind Maps
  • Experience Maps
  • User Needs Analysis
  • User Journeys

    Generate concepts

Collaboration is essential to any ideation process, whether though team brainstorming or engaging in participatory design with stakeholders and customers.

  • Structured Brainstorming
  • Ideation Workshops
  • Concept Organization
  • Problem Framing
  • Sketching
  • Storyboards

    Visualize the interaction

Visualizing and diagramming the user interaction is something I do in tandem with prototype development, as it is informed by user feedback on user testing and serves to guide later iterations.

  • Use Cases
  • Wireframes
  • User Flow Diagrams
  • Site Maps

    Communicate the idea

I take concepts from sketches and wireframes into visual/tangible MVPs and develop low, medium and high fidelity prototypes at multiple stages to know the perspective and test with users.

  • Paper Prototypes
  • Visual Mockups
  • Rapid Prototyping
  • HTML Prototypes

    Test the prototype

Getting timely and useful feedback on prototyped ideas in either a structured or informal setting is crucial to the iterative process.

  • Usability Testing
  • Card Sorting
  • A/B Testing
  • Guerilla Testing
    Refine and repeat

The feedback from the testing is what drives the iterative process, giving essential insights into refining the prototype, rethinking the interaction, and even generating more concepts.

What my peers say

Rajesh understands the needs of business customers. Because portals are more complex than simple web pages, the design and interface MUST be user-friendly. Rajesh successfully designed and programed many of the most user-friendly sites our customes demanded.

As manager of communication, I knew that word of mouth references were more powerful than paid advertisements. After Rajesh designed and integrated software into one client portal, they recommended us to others. Rajesh adds value to any customer project.

Joann Michèlle, MBA

UX Project Manager at Latheofheaven

Rajesh's creativity knowledge & intelligence for design and development is among the best I have witnessed. He has the creativity for design, knowledge of different technologies and intelligence of getting both together for an integrated output.

He has the ability to get the best out of his team members, and not to settle below the best. He is both a team player and a dynamic leader and above all he is a great mentor to his team members and colleagues.

He is a true professional who wins the respect of others through his integrity and firm desire to bring out the best in his team.

Bippin Minj

Technical Lead - User Interface & Experience at SDG Corporation

I've had the distinct pleasure of working with Rajesh for over 2 years. Rajesh is incredibly effective when solving complex technical problems, working under extreme pressure, and dealing with challenging customer situations. We no longer have the opportunity to work together, but if we did I would jump at the chance.
